| During the summer months, the pristine nature in the Ahrn Valley invites you into the mountains, easy as well as demanding hiking, mountain and walking trails invite beginners and trained mountaineers alike. In the Ahrn Valley, the mountain trains Klausberg and Speikboden take hikers safely and comfortably to an elevation of 1.600 m. Here nature lovers will find an Alpine hiking area with spectacular views of the 80 mountains over 3000 metres. |

Winter Hiking
| In Winter, while the Alpine flowers sleep under blankets of snow and most animals have gone into hibernation, the Ahrntal has a special charm. A breath-taking winter wonderland, surrounded by relaxing quiet and crystal-clear air, promises each winter hiker relaxation and rejunvenation. Over 30 well-marked hiking trails await enthusiastic winter hikers who happily pack their backpacks for long hikes in the cool air. |  |
| Even in Winter, many cultural buildings and museums in the Ahrntal, such as the Taufer Castle and many churches and museums, can be reached by foot. All routes around St. Johann and the Tauferer Ahrntal are on the Winter Hiking Map, which is available in all regional tourism offices. Those who would like to try something new, should rent a pair of snowshoes for a day from the local sports shops. |  |
| Hiking through the snowy winter wonderland of South Tyrol is like walking on clouds - with an average of 300 days of sun each year, it's a holiday experience of a lifetime. In the tourism offices, you can obtain maps for a total of 12 snowshoe hikes which will take you past mountain pastures and lodges through the deep snow.
